About

The Harmon House, located in historic downtown Kernersville, North Carolina, is one of Kernersville's most elegant historic homes. Built in 1858, the former owner preserved the historic allure by restoring original Teak wood floors, windows, and doors.

The home sits directly across the street from Harmon Park which, at one time, was a part of the Harmon Estate. Beautiful trees that frame the house and stately columns and verandas greet visitors as they make their way to the front steps.

In July 2006 Clarence and Imogene Lambe purchased the house from Fidelity Bank with plans to open it to the residents of Kernersville for use as a Historic Events Center. Their intent is to use the home for functions including receptions, weddings, banquets and conferences.

The Lambes are aware of the Harmon House’s heritage and historic significance and have therefore carefully planned their improvements to the house to ensure the integrity of the structure remains intact. Mr. and Mrs. Lambe feel that there must be a natural respect for a building with such character and history.

The Lambes have already made vast renovations to the house. These have included the removal of interior walls, creating large and spacious rooms. Likewise, repairs to the heating and cooling systems and the roof have created a more comfortable facility. In addition, a major portion of the outside siding has been replaced, and the entire building repainted. A picturesque gazebo and arbor in the backyard have been built, a beautiful addition to any wedding, reception, or shower. Most recently the Lambes have planted a formal rose garden next to the gazebo behind the house.

Few older homes have been as lucky as the Harmon House. This home has been graced with a succession of caring occupants who have enhanced its appeal while leaving its intrinsic elegance untouched. The Lambes only hope to continue this tradition while providing an elegant events center for the residents of the Triad area.

With stunning landscaping and exquisite architecture, the Harmon House brings a special mood to any occasion.
