Decorating

This is what has been happening at the Harmon House Events Center.  Each year Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving we invite friend (worker bees) for two days of decorating the Events Center for the holidays.  This year our friends Kathy Michael, Kim King, Tina Swisher Martin Flores , husband Clarence and myself spent a total of eighty seven hours preparing the Venue for the first open house of the season which was held on November 30, 2014.  For the past six years after lighting the Pierce Family Christmas Star uptown in Kernersville The Pierce Family invites everyone to a reception at the Harmon House Events Center.  We are always concerned we will not be ready but we did it again this year! (Thanks everyone)  As you drive up Main Street, enjoy the holiday decoration and the beautiful "Blinky Lights"  It is a Blessed Season-----Merry Christmas to all!!

One Week Later

Posted on: Nov, 12 2014

What a difference on week makes! After Craig and Kent Builders spent seven days working on the new addition to the Harmon House Events Center--It is almost finished!

Thanks to Craig and Kent for the workmanship and quality of materials they used. Fifteen eight foot True Divided windows and doors were used to close a side porch, making a sun-room. This room will provide more space for guests when using for Weddings, Receptions and other events.

From the beginning we asked ourselves--What do we want this room to look like and become when finished? One thing for sure we knew we wanted a comfortable, fun and elegant room for our guest to enjoy.  Since my favorite place to be is outside --we knew it had to be an open space, happy and with lots of sunshine to shower everyone with lots of natural light. It also needed to connect to the outside gardens. This is what we have accomplished!   With this new addition The Harmon House Events Center can now seat 90 people for a seated event and approximately 150 guest for a standing indoor event.

Excitement at The Harmon House Events Center

Posted on: Oct, 30 2014

Fifteen 8 Ft. glass windows and doors arrived at the Harmon House Events Center on Tuesday of last Week. Today the Craig and Kent Perryman Builders began the task of closing in the side porch using those windows and doors, which will become our new Sun Room.  This will provide more space for guests  to use at Weddings , Receptions and other events held at The Harmon House.  Stop by and take a look at work going on in the "New Garden" which is now being designed outside the Sun Room. We invite you to bring your garden shoes and gloves , get dirty and plant spring bulbs with us.  We will take a break now and then and enjoy the lovely autumn leaves.    Peace Joy and Love  Imogene

Wedding Venue in N.C

I am guilty of using some of the same adjectives to describe people places and things  so when I am describing the Harmon House Events Center I find myself using those same words over and over.  Elegant, warm, magnificently restored historic home.  Stunning landscape, picturesque gazebo,  perfect for weddings, receptions, and private parties.  In our opinion one of the best and most  beautiful venues in North Carolina---watch for info on our newly constructed sunroom now under construction.

Saturday June 28 you will want to bring your children downtown to “Miss Mary’s Parade”. This is a patriotic celebration for young children.  Dress them in red white and blue and watch them as they wave their flags, sing patriotic songs and enjoy this ever popular children’s parade.  Again this celebration will be held in the Town Court yard.

Kendre/Jonathan's Wedding

When I opened my front door this morning I was in awe of the beauty that surrounded me.  Saturday most times is my best day of the week ! (Since it is not my "Typical" work-day.)  Most Saturdays the day begins and ends at The Harmon House Events Center.  Upon arrival at the Events Center this morning and entering thru the Flower Gardens in the back yard I could not help but sing out -loud . Oh what a beautiful mornning ! Oh what a beautiful day! (The opening song from the musical Oklahoma.)

Toay was the "Perfect Day" for Kendre and Jonathan's wedding.  Martin had arrived around 5:30 AM to set up tables and chairs on the patio.  Hauser Rental was there placing white wedding chairs on the lawn. Stacey had almost completed  decorations around the Gazebo and Arbor Entrance of the long walk Kendre would be making later in the day.  A scene so Picture Perfect!  --Kendre comes  from Lewisville and Jonathan a Marine is stationed at Fort Benning Georgia.

Our goal here at the Harmon House Event Center is to offer the perfect venue for each and every bride.  Our responsibility is to make sure all details have been taken care of for that special day.  A wedding is the day that is a life-changing event.  We wish the best for Kendre and Jonathan.

I was not present for the wedding but one guest said it best:  "Pictureque" doesn't quite describe it!  This is a moment in my life I wish I could mint and carry around as a coin in my pocket forever.  Peace, Joy and Love  Imogene

The End of a Perfect Day

As I sit here tonight on my patio reflecting back on the events of this Mother's Day I cannot help but remember my "First Mothers Day" some fifty three years ago .  It is hard to describe the excitement and joy that came on that day.  Now after all these year's that same excitement and joy still exists.  After the first child Clarence was born--the second Christi--and the third Cathi--the days became more special.   In addition to these three children we have been blessed with a wonderul daughter-in-law and two wonderful son-in-laws.  And then came the grandchildren!!!  We have six---Cameron , Spencer , Parker , Johnny , Conner and Jenna. Three of them are in college and three in High School.  I maintain the best years unfold as we watch our grandchildren grow into responsible adults.

Today the Harmon House Event's Center along with Buttercup Cafe hosted a brunch honoring Mothers. (If you have never attended  one of these events remember to watch our website.)  Our family of fourteen met and enjoyed brunch together on the Patio of the Harmon House.  Tears filled my eyes with joy as I watched this family share their love for each other on this special day.  I want to thank my children and grandchildren for the opportunity to be a part of their lives.  We are all given opportunities and sometimes we take advantage of them and other times we botch them up.

I may not be a perfect mom but I love you with a perfect love.  The greatest job I have ever had is being your mom.  The second greatest is being a daugter to a great mom who now lives in Heven.  Thank you for a Perfect Day!

Mothers Day!

Recently I received a card from one of our daughters who lives in Roanoke Va.   It reads as follows:  Because of you Mom I know what love is. It's patience. It's sacrifice. It's sharing joy and keeping faith.  And it's what makes us strong and helps us find our way.  Because of you, Mom, I know what family is. It's laughing, It's leaning. It's being "real" and being friends. And it will always be there, no matter what.  Because of you, Mom, I know what's at the heart of a good life.....love and family----those things that are true and lasting.  They make a difference......Mom, I know because of you. --------Mothers Day is a time to honor, appreciate, and recognize our Mothers.  Many people send cards or gifts to their moms or make a special effort to visit her. There are many ways we can do this but this year bring Mom , join us at the Harmon House Events Center for a special brunch in her honor.  We would love to have you.   Limited Space , call today for reservations336-414-6464

Easter

It has been a weekend of chicks, bunnies, eggs, food and Sunrise Services. Easter in my opinin is one of the most important holidays we celebrate.

Traditionally there  is a big meal served after church and this year The Harmon House Events Center provided this meal for the community to enjoy.  Mary, Alan, Ashley and Staff  of Buttercup Cafe located in Denton N.C. did an outstanding job serving over one hundred guest Traditional Ham,  Pot Roast, and Belgium Waffles.

Judi Holcomb-Pack and Myra Asgaard-Espersen-Crisis Control Ministry in Winston Salem N.C. attended with family as did Crystal Norman and family-they were there celebrating the birth of a three-month old grand son and four generations at their table.  What a day of celebration for them!  Allison from Camden S.C. was celebrating her thirty fifth birthday.

The Old Salem Chapter of the American Automobile Car Club brought twenty four member from the area.  They enjoyed good food and fellowship with each other as they discussed plans for their up-coming antique car show which will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014 in Downtown Kernersville.

Tammy and Tony Shumaker of Winston Salem surprised their son Justin and daughter-in-law Anne-Marie as they celebrated their seventh month wedding anniversary.  Justn and Anne-Marie was married athe Harmon House Events Center in September, 2013. Congratulations!

Danny and Rosette Jefferson came as well as Rich and Nancy Blakemore.  Nancy  had been up since four a.m. (Nancy is the Music Director for MSUMC) Many others came dressed in their Easter Frocks and children with their "Bunny Ears".   We suggest you stay in touch and make plans to join us next year.  Keep reading our blog for upcoming events at the Harmon-House Events Center . Peace, Joy and Love to all
